Fertiliser spreaders

Fertiliser spreaders are available in a number of variations but the most common are:
👉 pedestrian spinning disc spreaders
👉 tractor-mounted distributors
In most cases, the tractor-mounted version will be used on larger multi-pitch site.
🎯 Where is the fertiliser contained?
- On pedestrian or towed spreaders the fertiliser is contained in a square or circular hopper which often narrow at the base and is spread in a wide arc by a horizontally rotating disc, typical pedestrian spreaders can accommodate 25-40kg of granular fertiliser.
- On tractor mounted machines the hopper is in an inverted conical shaped and often allows around 300kg of granular fertiliser which in most circumstances will be adequate for a single pitch.
🗝️ Practical tips:
- Don’t be tempted to overfill your spreader the weight of the fertiliser can affect even distribution of the fertiliser onto the spinning disc
- Keep your fertiliser and distributor as dry as possible any moisture can cause blockages and mechanisms to fail
- Pedestrian spinning disc spreaders are also useful for evenly applying grass seed on localised areas such as goal mouths
